April 2020 Updates
Ways to Support our Parish During COVID-19
We know our community is experiencing challenging times including the parish and many have asked how you can support St. Michael during this time. First, we want to let you know our new Sanctuary Project is moving forward and we have an estimated completion date of mid-September. We encourage you to drive by and see the progress! Metal framing has gone up all around the sanctuary and cupola. Steel beams and framing have been erected at our new SW entrance and bell tower. Dry wall and bricks will be going up soon. On the inside, renovation to our current narthex, women’s restroom, men’s restroom, new bridal room and family restroom are all now complete and functioning.
The total project costs = $9,373,751.
We have paid = $5,041,931
We owe= $4,331,820.
Due to the pandemic, our building fund collections are down between 40 to 50%.
Here are ways you can support the Building Fund:
General Financial State of the Parish
For period ending March 31st, our collections are down about $27,000 or 36%, when compared to budget. This was with only two weekends of worship from home and online contributions. For the month of April they are projected to be down about $50,000 or 67% when compared to budget. With our anticipated expenses for maintenance, utilities and payroll, these collection numbers are not sustainable.
Despite the many challenges we are all facing one thing remains consistent, we are connected through the virtual Masses, Eucharistic Adoration and Rosaries we all attend online. We miss you all and we are praying for your health and financial stability.

We are so joyful to announce that with the approval of the Diocese of Dallas and the blessing of Bishop Burns, it’s time to BREAK GROUND ON OUR NEW SANCTUARY!!!
Together, we have raised $4.3 million dollars, but total project costs are about $9.2 mill. So, it's very important to keep giving. When you put your dollars in that purple basket or give to Go Build God’s House online, those gifts go straight into the sanctuary project. Those of you who have pledged to “Go Build God’s House” and “Our Faith Our Future” capital campaigns - thank you so much! Please, continue to fulfill your pledge. It’s very important to stay the course and keep giving.
We wanted to quickly note that to meet our 50% goal, we had to reduce costs, some cosmetic items were cut, but can be added back in later. In addition, other items such as additional parking in the field or the Bell Tower are considered “add alternates” meaning they will be phased in later when funds are available.
Now it’s time to start think about how to include YOUR family's legacy in our sanctuary. We have decided to use all the proceeds of the RV raffle towards our Bell Tower. Please buy tickets and sell them to family and friends. The cost is about $145,000 or 3,000 raffle tickets. When we break ground, we will have a list of items that are needed for our new sanctuary and can be sponsored including: engraved bricks, stained glass windows, the tabernacle, pews, saint statues, etc. This is a great way to bless our church and leave your family’s legacy at St. Michael’s for future generations.
We are already working on an official ground-breaking ceremony and will provide you with an invitation once the date is finalized. These are very exciting times in our parish. We made it this far on this journey together and with God’s grace, we will finish strong as one body in Christ. Amen! Viva Cristo Rey!
